Best Commander Cards from Lorwyn Eclipsed
Good additions to your decks
Lorwyn Eclipsed spoilers are here and there are some powerful cards. This set has themes such as -1/-1 counters, kindred synergies, evoke and having permanents of each colour (this mechanic has been named Vivid.)
Today I will be covering my top cards from the main set for commander as well as naming some good reprints to pick up from the commander decks.
Good commander cards
Soul Immolation
This card puts -1/-1 counters on one of your creatures up to the greatest toughness you control then deals that much damage to opponents and their creatures. I want to try this card with Ancient Adamantoise to deal 20 damage and get 10 treasure tokens with the turtle’s replacement death trigger. This card is similar to Chandra’s ignition but it is a one sided boardwipe that only kills one of your creatures.
Twilight Diviner
This card surveils when it enters and copies creatures entering or cast from the graveyard. I’m looking forward to trying it in Modern Abzan Reanimator and in Commander in a graveyard deck.
Aurora Awakener
This creature cheats in creatures based on the number of colours among permanents you control. For 6G, even cheating an average of 2-3 creatures is a solid rate.
Spry and Mghty
This card picks two creatures and buffs them by the difference in their power and draws you that many cards. In Commander with a creature like Yargle and multani and a 1/1 you can buff both by +17/+17 and draw 17 cards.
Doran, Besieged by Time
This card is great for buffing creatures with a high difference between power and toughness. If you want to do something crazy you can swing with a Jumbo Cactuar to give it +9993/+9993.
High Perfect Morcant
Lorwyn Eclipsed introduces the blight mechanic, which puts -1/-1 counters on your creatures. This commander allows you to tap three elves to proliferate, taking advantage of the many -1/-1 synergy cards that already exist. This mechanic has boosted the price of many old cards that work well with this mechanic. This commander might replace Lathril as the elf commander of choice.
Kirol, Attentive First Year
Kirol is a callback to the conspire mechanic which was form original Lorwyn. It allowed you to tap two creatures that shares a colour to copy spells. Kirol wants lots of tokens and other creatures to double abilities. Cost reducers and free tap abilities will be good too.
Bitterblossonm Bearer
The serialized headliner of the set, this is basically a bitterblossom on legs. It's a call back to the enchantment from Lorwyn that drains you and makes a faerie on upkeep. It's more fragile as a creature but it can attack. I believe this will be a four of if Faeries sees Standard play again. It's also good in commander because you start at 40 life.
Eirdu and Isilu
This double sided god gives convoke and persist respectively for each side. Persist is very strong with undying creatures as it allows them to be sacrificed infinity. Butcher Ghoul, Ashnod’s Altar and Blood artist plus Isilu will win the game.
I hope this list gives you ideas for your Commander decks for inclusions and maybe a new deck. See you next time.
